How to Make a Travel Itinerary
This blog is not only for you to learn how to make an itinerary but also to help me plan as well!
As a type A planner, I LOVE to make detailed itineraries for each trip I plan. This helps me not only mentally prepare for what I'll do, but also it helps by forcing me to research the place I go to. This prior research allows me to know what is in the city, the history, language, and to enjoy the place more!
There are various ways to make a travel itinerary, this could include automatic ones like Klarna.trips which was previously InspiRock. I really like this !!!FREE!!! service because it is a great starting point to make a plan. You begin by putting in a location and dates. Then it gives you the option to put in the types and levels of activity you would like to do. It then will create a day-to-day plan. If you enter multiple locations it will even show you a map with the order of travel. This is typically my starting and ending point when planning. Starting to give me ideas and ending because I will go back and edit the plan so that I can have a plan on hand.
Another resource is Rick Steves. If you do not already know who he is, he is a very popular travel expert who has made numerous guides, videos, tv shows, and articles about travel. He primarily specializes in European travel, but his website is free and allows you to check out cities and what to do in each! Social media is also a great place to learn about places to go, what they look like, and less-known areas.
Now that you know where you want to go, you can make an itinerary! For handmade ones, you can use Canva, Microsoft Word, or online templates and input your own information. While this takes more time you will be able to customize it more than automatic ones.
Last but not least, you can find someone else's itinerary and use that! It is not custom at all, but it can be fun nonetheless!
Hope you enjoy it!
